As experts in inclusion and participation, people with disabilities give seminars, lectures and workshops for students, lecturers and university staff. The qualified education specialists raise awareness of barriers in everyday life, encourage reflection processes and actively help shape the university as a place to learn and work.

The effect: more awareness, more participation – and a more inclusive educational landscape.

Six education specialists are permanently employed at the Institute for Inclusive Education (IIB), a central institution of Kiel University. The qualification to become an educational specialist was developed and carried out for the first time in Kiel. This has resulted in a nationwide model: Education specialists are now working or are currently in the process of qualifying at six other university locations in Germany. Our practical transfer of experience accompanies the implementation on site.

CAU Innovation GmbH supports universities and providers in developing their own qualifications as educational specialists, based on the proven and successful model of the Kiel Institute for Inclusive Education.

Our goal: Creating sustainable structures for inclusive educational work

We support you with advice, training and an effective network – from the idea to implementation. The focus is on three central goals:

1. Successful qualification as an education specialist
   People with disabilities are comprehensively prepared for their work as education specialists: professionally, didactically and personally.
2. Anchoring in university structures
   The courses offered by education specialists are integrated into curricula and strengthen the openness and awareness of universities for inclusion.
3. Creation of jobs
   After completing the qualification, jobs for people with disabilities are created at the university that are remunerated in accordance with collective agreements and have long-term security.
